The process of transformation is at the crux of Zara Collins’ contemporary practice. Her work is bound together by ideas of reinterpretation, appropriation and reinvention.
A variety of techniques, processes and styles are utilized to create her unique work. Including soldering, hand-sawing and shaping sterling silver. Zara also uses porcelain and earthenware and stoneware ceramic hand building and casting techniques.
In addition to exhibiting new work regularly, Zara is an independant curator, specialising in Australian contemporary craft.
Zara divides her studio time between Darlinghurst, Sydney and the beautiful Illawarra coast.
